Monday, January 30th

Bell Work:

What did you learn from the Water Cooling Experiment you did?  Write full complete sentences.  Details.

Constructed Response (Problem of the Week)
Prove whether or not the following can form a right triangle, the sides measure 3, 4 and 5.  You need to write this out in full sentences and be able to prove completely.  Also constructed responses may include a drawing.

You will then need out your data from the Water Cooling Experiment.  I would like you to graph the data on Graph Paper.  You are also going to answer some questions from Investigation 4.3.

Wednesday, January 18th

Bell Work:

Change the following Growth Rates to Growth Factors.
a) 2%              b)10%             c)24%             d)100%

3rd Hour:

Each group will be given a problem.  In your math problem you will have an initial value and a growth rate.  You will need to make a table from year 0 to year 10.  Once your table is complete check your values to make sure they may sense.  Talk to your partner about this.  Then you need to write an equation showing how you calculated the information in your table.  Be ready to explain any of this information.

Then we are going to look at ACE Questions from yesterday and begin 3.3 Connecting Growth Rates and Growth Factor

4th Hour

Ater bell work you need to pick up your board from yesterday.  Meet back with your partner and make sure that your data is correct.  Be prepared to answer any questions that pertain to your information or your equation.

Then we are going to look at yesterday's ACE Questions and begin 3.3 Connecting Growth Rates and Growth Factor

Friday, January 13th

Today we are meeting in Room 504 to work on the computers looking at Exponents.

Your bell work is due.

Today we are going to visit the following sites.
http://sosmath.com/algebra/logs/log3/log3.html- this one will provide you with a few rules that you need to write down in your notes.  Also you need to practice the examples.

http://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/exponent-laws.html  Then you are going to go to this website and write down the laws of exponents. When you have written down the laws and the examples then you need to go and answer the 10 questions at the bottom of the site where it says 'your turn'

http://www.quia.com/ba/1000.html  In this site you are going to practice what you know about integers by playing a game of Battleship

Thursday, January 12th

Bell Work:
Write the following out in Exponential Form.

a) 64                b) 1.1X1.1X1.1X1.1X1.1X1.1            c) 25         d) .5X.5X.5X.5X.5X.5X.5

We are going to review Growth Rate Vs. Growth Factor

Then we will be finishing up 3.2  and ACE# questions # 9-15, 18-20

Tuesday, January 10th

Bell Work:

What does the equation for exponential growth look like? (Write it out).

You needed to know this for yesterday's quiz.

We are going to go over 3.1.  This was what you were suppose to have completed yesterday after your quiz.

Then you are going to be working on the ACE questions pg. 38 #1,2,4,24-30

Lastly we will begin discussng 3.2 Growth Rates

Wednesday, January 11th

Bell Work:

Wednesday, January 11th
 Calculate each percent.
24. 130% of $1,000        25. 50% of $200            26. 133% of $2,800

Review 3.1 Ace Questions from yesterday.  3,1 #1, 2, 4, 24-30

Then we are going to be adding a new vocabulary word today -  Growth Rate

We are going to take a look at the following video to review how we find growth factor and now how we find growth factor

We are going to be adding the vocabulary word to our vocabulary flip sheet.

Homework:  ACE 3.2 pg 39 #8-15, 18-20

Monday, January 9th

New Bell Work Sheet today!!!!

If given the following separate ordered pairs, find the growth factor for each situation.

a)  (2,20) (3,40)           b) (1,2) (2, 6)               c) (10, 120) (11, 240)

GET READY FOR YOUR QUIZ!!!!

After the quiz you are going to be picking up your next packet.  You are also going to be getting back your previous packet.  Make sure to add your schedule to the new packet!!!!
Please begin reading Investigation 3.1 from the book and in your packet.

*Homework Check from last night's assignment"*

Problem 2.3 Studying Snake Populations

We are going to look at how you find the growth factor from two seperate ordered pairs on a graph.

Friday, January 5th

Bell Work:  Don't forget to turn in your bell work paper today.

Homework Check:  ACE 2.3 #9-13 and #24-27

We will go over some of yesterday's homework as well.

Wednesday, January 4th

Bell Work-
Explain whether the following data in each table is exponential or linear. Also write out the equation for each one.

Homework Check from yesterday!!!!  Please make sure you have this available.

Then we are going to go over some of the homework.  The big thing you need to take away from the homework is the following format for the equation we have been working with.
\
Y= starting point(growth factor)^n      (The n represents the number to raise the growth factor to, how much something is being measured, ie:  days, months, years)

Problem 2.2 Interpreting Exponential Equations

We are going to be taking what we worked on yesterday and further studying these equations.

HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!!  ACE 2.2 pg 26 #5, 6, 8
